ROCKIN COUNTRY 1977

When Walter Scott James  started the
“Rockin Country Radio Show” in 1977.
He purposely used the word “Rockin” in the title, not
Rocking – Rockin` to make sure it was different
than any other show out there at the time.
It also was done that way so it said “ROCKinCOUNTRY!”
He loved that Rockin Country Outlaw Sound.

His early influences in live music came from Bands
that played at local pubs in the early 70’s.
He loved the way they would mix  Classic Country, Rock,
Blues, Old Rock & Roll and Outlaw Country.
Walter’s early shows had all of the above and very
seldom would a ballad find it’s way onto the show.
He has mellowed somewhat since then and now
features a few more ballads in each show.
Most of his shows in the early years were just him
solo but as time went on he would work with
All-Night Esquire over 20 years.

In 1994 The Artman heard his Rockin Country shows
and became a fan. In 2001 The Artman began
to produce the shows and was dragged
into becoming part of each show as a
presenter by Walter Scott.

In 2002 All-Night Esquire came on to guest
and the chemistry was so good between the three
of them they started to host the shows together
for the next ten years.
All-Night stayed with the show until 2013.

The Artman also moved on that year to
work with his own Band and produce his own
show called “The Art of Rock & Blues.”

Sharon did most of the Promo Jingles for
the shows over the years. Colin French
also provided some of the Promo Jingles,
as did The All-Night Esquire.
All-Night Esquire also was the creator
of all the graphics used for the show from
2002 to 2013.

Over the years we had many guests on
the show and the show was produced
in Weston, Streetsville, Orangeville,
Shelburne and Honeywood Ontario.

Somewhere in the middle of all this
Big Al The BBQ Pal was introduced
into the show each week and became
a fixture on the show,
even though he was seldom there.

After Allnight and The Artman moved on,
Walter Scott worked alone for the next several
years producing the shows for friends and
to post to mixcloud.com

In early 2019 Rockin Country made it’s debut
on C.R.A.P. Radio and continued when the
station rebranded to LP Country.

In early 2020 The Rockin Country Radio Show
was picked up by other internet statons
and can now be heard on close to
dozen or more stations world wide.

In the summer of 2019 Allnight Esquire came
out of retirement to guest on the show and plans
are being made to have all 3 of The Boys back
in the studio later this summer or fall.

In  early 2020 Walter Scott started the
“Canadian Indie Country Countdown”
and even the amount of time needed to produce
the new show he still finds time to keep
Rockin Country on the air.
